[ Oh! The Places We Have Been! ]*

Hey little chickadees.

I don't know why I said that.  Maybe a lack of blogging has left me blogally-awkward.

Speaking of awkward, I get more and more socially awkward the older I get.

Most of my conversations with strangers these days start with, "I know this may be awkward, but..."

And end with anything from, "You look like Tom Cruise; will you do hook'em horns with me for a photo for my in-laws"
to, "It's hot in Africa."

Anyways, my awkwardness was not the purpose of this post.  What was I even going to write about??

Ah, yes, what has been going on lately.

Since our life has been a great mystery to most people the last few weeks? months?, I thought I would start most recently and work backwards.

Sigh-light?
Sigh-light.

Wait.  This needs addressing.

Has anyone ever heard that word? "Sigh-light?"

Whenever mom would ask us a question when we were little, she would clarify that we understood by asking, "Sigh-light?" and then we replied, "Sigh-light" to confirm our comprehension.

And at 29-years-old I am just recognizing 1. That is weird and 2. That I don't have a clue what it means.

Update: I called her mid-blogpost and asked her about it.

This was her answer: "It is Mexican."

(I am guessing she means Spanish?)

She continues, "The mouse-puppet on Ed Sullivan said it. His name was Topo Gigio." She erupts in laughter.

Then she said, "You know, now that I think about it, maybe that mouse said, 'It's alright'."

Ummm...okay, thanks for the clarification, Mom. Glad we have been saying nonsense all these years.

Perhaps social awkwardness is hereditary.

Another Update: This gets even better. After the call, I googled Topo Gigio and learned:

1. He is real. Honestly, I was worried.

2. His language is not actually "Mexican", but is Italian.

3. As far as child-friendly, Italian rats go, I think Topo Gigio is a pretty popular dude.

4. On Youtube while trying to find a video of this mouse, I noticed a comment that I thought was comical, "I am a grown-man watching puppet videos on the internet. What have I done with my life."  He is funny.  Not socially awkward. Maybe I should post a comment above his that says, "I know this might be awkward but, you are hilarious and my husband and I want to meet you."

And last but not least,

5. I see nothing about Sigh-light. Anywhere.

And, 30 minutes later, I still have not arrived at making a post.

I will try again tomorrow.  Or if not then, soon.

Sigh-light?

Maybe he was trying to say, "so, right?" idk. Sounded good to me.

Topo Gigio ended every appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show with "Eddie, kiss me good night" - with his Italian accent - so cute!
